Birds of Prey are birds that hunt food—usually other animals—primarily on the wing, using their keen senses, especially vision. Their talons and beaks tend to be relatively large, powerful and adapted for tearing and/or piercing flesh. In most cases, females are considerably larger than males. The term "raptor" is derived from the Latin word rapere, meaning to seize or take by force. Source: Wikipedia. School Programs Funded by grants and donations from local individuals, businesses and organizations. In the spring of 2022, Birds of Prey programs were shown to more than 39 schools in the Alvin, Angleton, Bay City, Brazosport, Columbia-Brazoria, Damon, Danbury, Matagorda, Polacios,Sweeny, Van Vleck School Districts, and several private schools reaching a total audience of over 18,000 students and teachers. PUBLIC PROGRAMS
Public Birds of Prey programs are presented in a variety of venues including state, county, and municipal parks, service clubs, churches, and shopping malls. These programs culminate at Migration Celebration in April with four programs during the two-day festival at San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge. Public Birds of Prey programs are funded by donors. Unless otherwise noted, public programs are open to the public without charge.
